چکیده

tion, necrosis, and dystrophy are legion, ranging from bacterial invasion to hereditary dwarfism. Without question, bacterial invasion from a carious lesion is the most frequent initial cause of pulp inflammation. Paradoxically, an alarming amount of pulp involvement is induced by the very dental treatment designed to repair the carious lesion. An increase in automobile and cycle accidents, as well as accidents from body contact sports, has also brought about an increase in pulp death owing to trauma. The causes of pulp inflammation, necrosis, and dystrophy are arranged below in logical sequence, beginning with the most frequent irritant, microorganisms:

A New Classification of Endodontic-Periodontal Lesions

The interrelationship between periodontal and endodontic disease has always aroused confusion, queries, and controversy. Differentiating between a periodontal and an endodontic problem can be difficult. A symptomatic tooth may have pain of periodontal and/or pulpal origin. The nature of that pain is often the first clue in determining the etiology of such a problem. Radiographic and clinical ev...

Cytokine induction by Streptococcus mutans and pulpal pathogenesis.

Chronic pulpal inflammation under caries appears to be elicited by bacterial antigens that diffuse into the pulp through dentinal tubules. This prompted the hypothesis that cytokines elicited by antigens from Streptococcus mutans, which frequently dominates shallow lesions, could play a major role in eliciting the initial T-cell response in the pulp. To test this, we examined the ability of S. ...

Epithelial Dysplasia in Oral Cavity (Review Article)

Among oral lesions, we encounter a series of malignant epithelial lesions that go through clinical and histopathologic processes in order to be diagnosed. Identifying these processes along with the etiology knowledge of these lesions is very important in prevention and early treatments. Dysplasia is the step preceding the formation of squamous cell carcinoma in lesions which have the potential ...

The response of four calcium hydroxides on monkey pulps.

Dentinal bridge formation and pulpal responses of four calcium hydroxide materials, pulp capping medicaments, MPC, Experimental MPC-12, Dycal and Pulpdent, were evaluated in primary and permanent monkey teeth. A total of 60 primary and 60 permanent teeth were used with each material placed in a Class V cavity exposure in Rhesus monkey teeth. The materials were placed on the exposed pulp tissue ...

Maxillary lateral incisors are commonly affected tooth and bilateral occurrence is rare. It shows a broad spectrum of morphologic variations and it usually results in pulpal necrosis. Root canal thera...
